It Starts Tonight.

The NBA opens it's most anticipated season in years tonight, with arguably the top 4 teams it has to offer. The new look Miami Heat go into the Garden and take on the beefier C's to start things off. With The Lake show hosting Yao's Rockets. With the conclusion of tonight's marque games we will be able learn one thing; each team's record. Tonight we will be entertaining and allow us to be able to sleep well knowing basketball is back and better then ever. We won't learn if the Evil Trio can gel together. We won't learn has Yao returned to his all star form of the past. We won't learn is Kobe 100% after what it seems like 100 injuries. We won't learn much about the C's that we don't already know. Tonight is for purely good ol' entertainment, thanks David.

If Yao...

If Yao Ming is healthy as many outlets are reporting, that'll change the race in the west. With Kevin Martin providing the scoring for the perimeter, and Yao doing what Yao (a healthy Yao) does, this team one of the best inside out games in the L. With Shane Battier and Aaron Brooks, Courtney Lee, and Chase Budinger they should have more then enough outside shooting to protect the constant double teaming Yao will face. With Luis Scola being the best player in the world over the summer, expect him to come back with a renewed confidence and maybe a new move or two. He can hit the 16 footer or bang with the big bodies down low. He's perfect for a front court running mate with Yao. With all the talk in the East about the C's front court, with Shane Battier, Patrick Patterson, Luis Scola, Brad Miller, and Yao Ming, I'd say that the Rockets have the best front court in the L. They have a perfect mix of Stars and role player. Battier and Patterson will do all of the dirty work so Yao and Scola can thrive. Not saying they're going to win the whole thing or anything, but don't be surprised to see them in the finals. I'm not saying, I'm just saying.

Canes' WR's Not Paning Out (As Usual)

One of the biggest disappointments of this short college football season has been the Wide Receivers. Coming into this season they were looked upon has the strongest group in the country 1-4. Now after 5 games, Leonard Hankerson has been the only one who has consistently been good. Laron Byrd has taken the biggest steps backwards. After having 4 TDs receptions his freshman his production has gone down every year since. Aldarius Johnson numbers are exactly the same with 3 TDs his freshman year and has yet to record 1 in two seasons. Travis Benjamin has been plagued all year with a bad case of the drops. He also hasn't had any real big plays that he is known for. All in all is group hasn't lived up to the expectations. I point to coaching, or lack there of. Curtis Johnson the Canes' WR coach from 1996-2005 is arguably the best at what he does. He is currently the WR's coach for the New Orleans Saints, and I there is a direct correlation between him arriving and there whole receiving core elevating, while when he departs the U, the talent seems to never live up to expectations. The WR's at the U have all the talent in the world, but they just need to show it on Saturdays.

J. Alexander's top 10 In The L.

1. Kobe Bean Bryant. There really isn't much competition for the number 1 spot. It's the best player for the last 10 years, Kobe Bean. I love to argue with people about saying oh, LeBron, Durrant are the best. All i have to do is reel off this guys accomplishments. His accolades and achievements place him in the category of best player ever. Kobe has had the type of career that 75 years from now, when no one alive has ever seen him play, and they only have to go off of his records and stats....they going to look at this guy like a god.

2. Dwyane Tyrone Wade. The most clutch player behind the mamba. His greatness is exemplified by dragging his talentless Heat to the play-offs year after year. Wade like Kobe has that special ability to have games that people will remember for the rest of their lives. He's truly magical when it counts the most, ask the Bulls. Wade could be the best straight up defender in the L, the thing he only trys in the last 5 minutes of games.

3. LeBron Raymone James. Could have been the greatest TE, DE, 100m, Water Polo, or Chess player ever. But he decided to take his talents to the basketball court. His greatness has been apparent since he was a sophomore in high school. He took a team that the 2nd best player was Mo Williams to the second best record in NBA history with 66 wins. He is the 3rd all time leader in ppg's. He is the most versatile player since Magic Johnson, and the athleticism of MJ, in the body of a NFL TE. He has the uncanny ability to make everyone around him better, which is something thats truly hard to find. Just Google "lebron james accomplishments" and peep it.

4. Dwight David Howard. I've been his biggest critic for years now. But realistically speaking he is the best defensive player down low the NBA has ever seen. He's the best rebounder since Dennis Rodman, best shot blocker since Hakeem Olajuwon and the most athletic big man in the L since Shaq was Shaq. Very Limited on the offensive end, but that being said he is still able to average 20ppg's. I don't think he will ever truly be a skilled offensive big man only cause he hasn't shown it yet after 6 years. But his greatness on the back line and boards alone make him a dominant player in the L. And he's only 24.

5. Chris Emmanuel Paul. Considered a top PG in the L, but still doesn't get the credit he deserves because he plays in a rather small market and doesn't constantly win. His ability to get into the lane and score for someone who is barely 6' tall is remarkable. His body control in the air and ability to find the cracks in the defense is mind blowing. 10 Assists per game is his career average and theres a short list of people who have that on their resume. He is definitely one of those players who make everyone around him better. His 15 foot jumper is as good as anybody in the L and he is consistently among the league leaders in steals. His numbers don't tell the whole story, just watch a game and you'll see why.

6. Kevin Wayne Durant. The main difference between Duranchula, Melo, and Dirk, is that Duranchula plays with a chip on his shoulders. He plays with passion and anger. KD already has a scoring title, international accolades, and keys to his own NBA team. At 6'10" and his wicked jumper, offensively speaking; he has no ceiling.

7. Carmelo Kiyan Anthony. To break it down at its simplest level, some people are just gifted with being able to put the ball in threw the rim. Melo is one of them. He has never averaged less then 20 ppg's and 5 reb's per season. Melo also has a long history of making game winners. At 6'8", he handles like a guard and moves like a smooth assasin. Very little defenders if any can stick Melo for a whole game and be successful.

8. Pau Gasol. The most skilled big man since Hakeem Olajuwon, and might be better offensively. The are very little big men ever who can run a whole offense from the post with the ball in hand. Can score in a million different ways, and has improved his game 10 fold since losing to the C's in the finals two years ago. Always comes up with the big rebound in big games and could be better fundamentally then "The Big Fundamental."

9. Dirk Werner Nowitzki. At 7' something he is really a glorified guard. One of the best offensive players in the last decade he is a lock for 25 and 8 a game. Always the best player on a stacked Mavs team. Dirk is probably the best European player ever to play in the NBA also. With a NBA MVP and a finals appearance under his belt, there isn't much he hasn't gone through.

10. Chris Wesson Bosh. 20-10 is just what he does. Is the second best post player behind Pau. Because he has played in Toronto in his whole career so far people really don't the kind of player he really is. He's not a jump shooter, although his jump shot is silky smooth, he's not scared to bang with other bigs and fight for rebounds. This season people will get a chance to see the kind of player he really is. Why he was on the Olympic team, and numerous all star games.

18-11-10.

No you didn't read that incorrectly. That's not a date. I predict those will be LeBron's numbers for the upcoming season. 18 points per game, 11 assists per game, and 10 rebounds per game. The biggest thing i took away from watching the Heat's training camp was that LeBron is their point guard. Mario Chalmers will most likely be their starting point guard. He does everything they need. Defense, can run the floor, and most of all above average shooting. But for people who knows anything about life, its how you finish, not how you start. And with seven minutes to go in a close game, the Heat's line up will be BronBron, Wade, Miller, Bosh, Haslem/Anthony. Coach Spo has shown throughout his short coaching career to play players he trust. And these are players he trusts and can produce results.
29-8-7 were LeBron's numbers last year with Mo Williams and Antawn Jamison as his running mates. With Chris Bosh and D. Wade running with LeBron this year, a triple double isn't out of the question. Coach Spo had BronBron brining up the ball 90% of the time he was in the game. He was running the offense. Bron was also passing in the in bounds passes. They want the ball in his hands. Joel Anthony, Juwan Howard and even UD dropped passes last week just because they were not expecting LeBron to pass them the ball or the ball to get there. He is known for having great passing skills, and he is still an under rated passer.

A Few Thoughts From Heat Training Camp.

OK. It's done. The MIami Heat unique training camp has finally come to an end. I've watched all the videos, and even the five-on-five scrimmage. This is a totally different team from last year to say the least. Here are a few of my opinions and predictions after watching this team so closely for the last week.

- LeBron James is freakishly good at basketball. He provided most of the highlight reel from this training camp. His passes were crisp, his shot looks like it has improved, and his elbow showed no signs of any lingering aliment.
- Wade is re-energized. Last year this time D. Wade came into camp over weight. This year he came in and look like his 2008-09 form. He seems to be actually trying on defense more, which could be scary for the rest of the L.
- Mike Miller is not only shooter. Throughout camp Miller showed great ability to handle the ball and make plays. Whether it be driving and dishing or just taking the ball to the hole, Miller made plays. He's known for his shooting but he looks like he will showcase his complete game here in Miami.
- Defense is the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, priority for this team. The first day of training camp they did not do 1 single offense drill. The whole day was spent on defense. What else to do expect form a Erik Spolstra team?
- Big man by committee seems to be the winner. Big men were rotated in with the big three when the scrimmaged and all brought different games. Joel looks to be your starter.
- Bosh is a legit player. Yes we've heard all summer about the big three but Bosh still has been pushed to the side. But his jumper is as sweet as any big man in the L and he is willing to bang with the big boys.
- The Heat mean business. Good luck to everybody.

Sex On The Open Sea.

The worlds seventh largest yacht is being seized by Turkish officials in a reported sex scandal. Authorities charged that the megayacht, which is owned by the Republic of Turkey, for operating as a floating brothel hose by an unnamed businessman who had been renting it for $40,000 per day. Clients paid $3,000 to $10,000 per night to have sex with one or more Russian and Ukrainian fashion models, some of whom were underage and are being deported, according to reports.
